Another SNOW DAY in the Carolinas! Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools are CLOSED, of course. Are we prepared? Did we run to the grocery store when we heard the news yesterday?
Of course we are prepared! Our deep freezer was the best investment! We are always stocked up with plenty to eat on a snow day! Those bread and milk shelves ain’t got nothing on us;)
I know I’ve mentioned plenty of times that hubby is a planner. He has a plan for EVERYTHING in our house! We practice weekly routines as a family to make it a lot more fun. Weekly grocery shopping is a family event for us and the kids. Uh, yeah… we’re “one of THOSE families”. Lol. The ones you look at all crazy at the store like.. “why in the h*ll do people take their whole family to the grocery store?!”?
With our grocery list on Cozi, we are in and out the store!
If your babies eat as much as our’s do, I am sure you know that grocery shopping is a MUST. It helps save us so much money! Dining out as a family of 5 at a family restaurant averages anywhere between 95-150.00.
We have a bad habit of “eating good” so we’ve got to watch our expenses. College Tuition for 3 needs attention now! Lol.
I wrote this list of SNOWFOOD last year for you guys but forgot to post a note on IG first.
We find this list extremely helpful to our family so we wanted to share it with other families like your’s. Here’s the list of “Must Haves” for your home that you can make over 25 different healthy recipes with!
REFRIGERATOR MUST HAVES:
Raw kale, raw eggs, hard boiled eggs, tomatoes, carrots, celery, almond/coconut milk, Greek yogurt, cheese, corn, apples, oranges, avocado, lime, lettuce, spinach, corn, ginger, cilantro, green pepper, red onions, green onions and mushrooms. You can easily make a meatless salad with those ingredients.
FREEZER MUST HAVES:
Blueberries, strawberries, frozen yogurt, shrimp and broccoli because they don’t last as long in the fridge.
PANTRY MUST HAVES:
Assorted potatoes, jasmine rice, walnuts, granola, oatmeal, grits, bread, spinach wraps, tortilla wraps, peanut butter, bananas, veggie chips, cereal, honey, agave, and water bottles.
That should be plenty of options to create different meals. Meal prepping makes life so much easier. This way you will never not have any food to eat. So with the list I gave you, this is what you can make without giving it much thought. But if that’s not your thing, here’s a list of meal ideas you can create out of the “MUST HAVES” list.
