Here are some of our recommendations and “must-dos” in Chicago …
10 BEST THINGS TO DO IN CHICAGO ON A GIRLS GETAWAY
1. THE GWEN HOTEL CHICAGO
When planning an itinerary for a girls getaway, (especially for a party of 8)
finding the best hotel is a priority.
We chose The Gwen Hotel because it is part of The Luxury Collection Hotel; there’s a rooftop terrace called Upstairs At The Gwen, both are centrally located in the heart of downtown on Michigan Avenue, within walking distance of Magnificent Mile Shops.
2. CHICAGO RIVERWALK
The Chicago Riverwalk is located on the south bank of the Chicago River. It stretches 1.25 miles from Lake Michigan to Lake St. Take a walk, enjoy the views of Chicago’s beautiful architecture. You are free to capture plenty of photos, eat, drink, and play.
3. ART INSTITUTE OF CHICAGO
The Art Institute of Chicago was founded in 1879, is known as one of the oldest and largest art museums in the world.
It homes some of the world’s most revered masterpieces; from the largest collection of Impressionist to Post-Impressionist art on the planet outside the Louvre, with more than 300,000 pieces of art.
One of the most impressionable, yet most remarkable museums we’ve ever seen. If you appreciate Art, whether it’s for aesthetics or historical preference, you will appreciate The Art Institute of Chicago.

4. MILLENNIUM PARK
Take a stroll through the Windy City’s famous Millennium Park, where you will find one of IG’s most iconic selfie backdrops:) Sure you’ve seen “the bean” all over your explore page under the Chicago hashtag.
Millennium Park is a beautiful, quiet, free tourist attraction, located in the middle of downtown Chicago. It is a 14 minute walk from The Gwen Hotel.
5. LOU MALNATI’S PIZZERIA
You can’t leave Chicago without filling your belly with Chicago’s best deep dish pizza.
Lou Malnati’s is considered the oldest family name in Chicago pizza. These legendary deep dish pizzas are hand-made, from scratch with vine ripened plum tomatoes, fresh toppings, mozzarella cheese, upon a tasty crust. It’s like a ‘pizza lasagna.’
6. GARRETT POPCORN CHICAGO
Garrett Popcorn was the very first popcorn shop opened up in downtown Chicago.
This is absolutely a Chicago Thing to do because it is a Chicago tradition since 1949. We recommend trying The Garrett Mix:)
7. SKY DECK CHICAGO
Experience Chicago’s breathtaking views from the 103rd. floor of The Sky Deck|Willis Tower.
Standing 1,450 feet and 110 stories tall, the world-renowned building is the eighth-tallest building in the world, and remains the tallest building in the Western Hemisphere, standing 1,450 feet and 110 stories tall.
8. SOMERSET FOR BRUNCH
Located inside the Viceroy Hotel, this new-fashion American Country Club inspired brassiere has in-room and outdoor dining options.
If you don’t mind bold and beautiful brass pendant drop fixtures hanging from the ceiling, and walking on polished wooden floors, you will enjoy having brunch at Somerset.
The menu was simple, everything tasted good, the staff were friendly, and the atmosphere was perfect! (only 0.9 miles from The Gwen Hotel)
9. LE COLONIAL CHICAGO
Not your typical ‘traditional’ Vietnamese restaurant. Let’s be honest, when dining at a Vietnamese restaurant, the fancy ones don’t live up to your expectations. It’s the “mom & pop” spots that are tasty.
We were blown away by the detailed aesthetics, and detailed flavor in every dish we ordered.
Le Colonial — the integration of French & Vietnamese at its best!
10. RPM ITALIAN CHICAGO
RPM is a classy, modern Italian restaurant with a contemporary menu, located in the River North neighborhood of downtown Chicago.
It wasn’t an easy decision in a city that’s known for its high “foodie” reputation. When celebrating your best friend’s 40th., we wanted an upscale atmosphere, with crafted cocktails, and quality Italian food. We wanted a memorable birthday dinner experience.
And RPM Italian did not let us down!
